The Adolf Goetzberger-Foundation aims to promote science and research, nature conservation, environmental protection and climate protection, in particular solar energy, and realizes this purpose by awarding an annual prize. The foundation pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes.
From 2025, the Adolf Goetzberger-Prize will be awarded annually to visionaries in the field of solar energy. Established by the Board of Trustees of the Adolf Goetzberger-Foundation, the prize honors the important German solar pioneer Adolf Goetzberger and recognizes special achievements in the development of solar energy and the integration of renewable systems. With the introduction of the Adolf Goetzberger Award, the foundation of the same name is sending a strong signal for the future of solar energy. The aim is to promote innovative ideas and solutions that are not only technically brilliant, but also economically and socially relevant. The award is a tribute to a man who not only advanced solar technology, but also made it the basis of a sustainable energy transition.
The first award ceremony will take place on the occasion of the 40th PV Symposium (March 11 - 13, 2025) in the historic Banz Monastery in Bad Staffelstein - a place where research, industry and business meet to jointly shape the future of renewable energies.
