Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE
What began on July 1, 1981 as a vision of Institute founder Prof. Dr. Adolf Goetzberger and a team of 24 research pioneers in Freiburg has long since become reality. Today, with over 1,200 employees, Fraunhofer ISE is the largest solar research institute in Europe and one of the world's most important driving forces and research partners for an energy supply based on 100 percent renewable energies. The institute's success lies in its broad-based portfolio of topics from the outset and its systemic approach, which pursues holistic, solution-oriented concepts in close cooperation with industrial partners.
Fraunhofer ISE develops materials, components, systems and processes in its market-oriented business areas "Photovoltaic - Materials, Cells and Modules", "Photovoltaics - Production Technology and Transfer", "Solar Power Plants and Integrated Photovoltaics", "Power Electronics and Power Grids", Electronic Energy Storage", "Climate Neutral Heat and Buildings", "Hydrogen Technologies" and "System Integration". The institute has an excellent laboratory infrastructure at its disposal. It also carries out anaysis, studies and consultations and offers its customers testing and certification procedure.
