Photovoltaic solar energy symposium in Bad Staffelstein
Adolf Goetzberger is one of the founding fathers of the Photovoltaic Solar Energy Symposium in Bad Staffelstein. Together with Eckhardt Günther from the then organizer OTTI (Ostbayerisches Technologie-Transfer-Institut), Udo Möhrstedt from IBC Solartechnik and Jürgen Schmid from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, Adolf Goetzberger created the PV conference program and held the first PV symposium in Kloster Banz near Bad Staffelstein in April 1986. Based on the idea of disseminating specialist knowledge on the practical application of photovoltaics in the low power range, the symposium developed into the most important user forum in the German-speaking world in the years that followed. The organization of the PV symposium in the triangle of scientific research, technology-related application and market and industry development, supplement by a small industrial trade fair, proved to be a stroke of luck and was the starting point for many ideas for photovoltaic system technology, which could be implemented step by step. Adolf Goetzberger has accompanied and promoted the PV Symposium for over 30 years as conference chair, advisory board member and later as honorary chairman.
The PV Symposium has been organized by Conexio and Conexio-PSE GmbH, based in Pforzheim, since 2019 and will be held for the 40th time in 2025.
